On January 20th, we'll enjoy a demo by nationally known former TVAA member Paul Leveille. Paul runs workshops around the country, has had his art appear in national art magazines, and is the author of self-instruction videos and books. He will be doing a pastel rendering, using a live model. If his name sounds familiar, Paul was the judge for our Fall Member Show in Chicopee, and provided the critique that night.

From his studio in the hills of Western Massachusetts, Paul paints the portraits of distinguished clients, both nationally and internationally.Paul is a graduate of Vesper George School of Art in Boston, MA. He is a member of many national art associations including Academic Artist Association, Pastel Society of America and Portrait Society of America, to name a few.

TVAA has a special presentation coming up on February 17th, 2010! If there was ever a time to become a Tobacco Valley Artist member, now is the time. Susan Pecora will be attending our February TVAA meeting to present a watercolor demonstration. Some of you enjoyed painting with Susan at her mini-workshop in the fall, She is perhaps better known to you as the "watercolor lady on Channel 57". Susan will be doing a watercolor demo. This is something you will NOT want to miss!

Susan Tilton Pecora was raised in Marblehead, Massachusetts. In this seashore community she grew to appreciate the quality of light and the intrinsic beauty of New England. After furthering her studies in Boston she moved to Western Mass in 1974 and studied painting with Jack Flynn, A.W.S. at Bay Path College. When Mr. Flynn retired, she taught at Bay Path for the next ten years.

She has exhibited and won awards from a variety of national organizations including: the American Artists' Professional League, NYC, NY; Knickerbocker Artists, NY; New England Watercolor Society North American Open Exhibit; The Copley Society Invitational; The Rocky Mountain National Watercolor Exhibit, Colorado; Realism in Art National Exhibition, Parkersburg Art Center, West Virginia and the Hudson Valley Art Association National Juried Exhibit, Hastings on Hudson, NY.
Susan's painting show "Reflections Through Watercolor" has been broadcast on WGBY, the PBS Broadcasting affiliate for Western New England for the past five years. She has painted such diverse subjects as Fenway Park during a Boston Red Sox game, Heublein Tower in Connecticut, Hancock Shaker Village, Emily Dickinson's Home, Norman Rockwell's Studio and Calvin Coolidge's birthplace in Plymouth Notch, Vermont.

On Saturday, September 26th The King House Museum on South Main St. in Suffield hosted this annual event. And once again Cellie Ledoux, who originated this show, stepped up to chair it when no one would volunteer to take it o
ver. There were many members hanging work in the TVAA tent, in addition to those who ran their own booth. The weather cooperated, the crowds turned out, and many went home with paintings, (and artists with $$$$). Thanks to all who worked tirelessly to make this event special. Including those who worked, Thursday and Friday getting the site ready. We could not have enjoyed the success we did without you. Many were on hand all day Saturday. There were 52 artists exhibiting their work, approximately 200 people attended the event and 46 pieces of artwork were sold. Thanks to your efforts,
we made a tidy profit and made a donation to the King House Museum on behalf of TVAA. We enjoyed some great publicity, thanks to the efforts of Mary Barnes. Several new artists were there for the first time, and promised to return. Once again, Lester Smith, Suffield’s Town Historian and curator of the King House, went out of his way to meet our every need. I hope you saw our new A-frame sign on the green as you passed by. New member Laurie Tavino was on hand with her new book, and many painted on site. A great day! View photos of the event here

Do you want to have your artwork featured on the main page of the TVAA website? Each month we will allow a TVAA artist to have the front page randomly display their gallery artwork on the TVAA home page (right side of page). Please submit a request via the ;Contact Us">Contact form if you would like to be featured. When a user (member or public) click on your image, it will take them to your TVAA Gallery-- How cool is that?! Additionally, if you supply a bio, we can enable both members and non-members to learn more about you!
To utilize this benefit, you must be a TVAA member in good standing, have a TVAA member login account and have at least one image uploaded to your personal free TVAA gallery.
Note: The scope of this program may change in the future as more members start using the website. For now, we will stick to a monthly rotation, however it may switch to a weekly rotation if we get more interest.
