Most TVAA meetings include a wonderful demonstration from area artists. Here are a few that we've been blessed with: Linda Kemp is internationally recognized for her unique contemporary watercolours and innovative use of negative painting. She is the author of the #1 best-selling book, Watercolor Painting Outside the Lines -A Positive Approach to Negative Painting (North Light pub.) and the accompanying video (Teaching Art Videos) by the same title. She is a contributing writer/demonstrator in Watercolor For the Fun of It - Easy Landscapes by Jack Reid, Painter's Quick Reference - Flowers, and Painter's Quick Reference Landscapes both N. L. pub. and Discover Your Visual Voice by D. Mitchell. A full time artist, she frequently instructs and lectures at national symposiums and watercolour workshops throughout Canada, The United States and The United Kingdom.
From his studio in the hills of Western Massachusetts, Paul paints the portraits of distinguished clients, both nationally and internationally.Paul is a graduate of Vesper George School of Art in Boston, MA. He is a member of many national art associations including Academic Artist Association, Pastel Society of America and Portrait Society of America, to name a few. In addition to his portrait commissions, Paul teaches workshops around the country and in his Cross Road Studio. He has produced three videos entitled Oil Portrait Demonstration, Pastel Portrait Demonstration and Watercolor Portrait Demonstration, and is the author of three books…Drawing Expressive Portrait’s Painting Expressive Portraits in Oil and Painting Expressive Portraits in Pastel. Paul has also been featured in American Artist Magazine,International Artist Magazine, and Pastel Artist International, and had a watercolor demonstration featured in American Artist Watercolor Magazine. Most recently he has an article published in The Pencil Box also published by North Light Books.
Susan Pecora Susan Tilton Pecora was raised in Marblehead, Massachusetts. In this seashore community she grew to appreciate the quality of light and the intrinsic beauty of New England. After furthering her studies in Boston she moved to Western Mass in 1974 and studied painting with Jack Flynn, A.W.S. at Bay Path College. When Mr. Flynn retired, she taught at Bay Path for the next ten years. She is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society in Boston, and a former council member of the Academic Artists Association, Springfield; Copley Society Boston; Cape Cod Art Association, Barnstable and The Provincetown Art Association. She has exhibited and won awards from a variety of national organizations including: the American Artists' Professional League, NYC, NY; Knickerbocker Artists, NY; New England Watercolor Society North American Open Exhibit; The Copley Society Invitational; The Rocky Mountain National Watercolor Exhibit, Colorado; Realism in Art National Exhibition, Parkersburg Art Center, West Virginia and the Hudson Valley Art Association National Juried Exhibit, Hastings on Hudson, NY Susan's paintings are included in the permanent collections of Western New England College, The United States Post Office, Baystate Medical Center, Northeast Utilities, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co., Literacy Volunteers of America, The Jeol Corp, London and private collections in the U.S., France, Germany, Austria, Newfoundland and Japan. Susan's painting show "Reflections Through Watercolor" has been broadcast on WGBY, the PBS Broadcasting affiliate for Western New England for the past five years. She has painted such diverse subjects as Fenway Park during a Boston Red Sox game, Heublein Tower in Connecticut, Hancock Shaker Village, Emily Dickinson's Home, Norman Rockwell's Studio and Calvin Coolidge's birthplace in Plymouth Notch, Vermont. In 2000, Susan was the artist for Willie Nelson's Farm Aid calendar. Thirteen of her paintings of local farms were used to create the calendar, which supported the Farm Aid Concert for the benefit of small American farms. Two of Susan's paintings of local subjects were featured in the book Splash 7 - A Celebration of Light, The Best in Watercolor published by North Light Books. She also created the poster for First Night Northampton 2006 and the 35th Annual Mattoon Street Arts Festival poster in 2007. Her painting of Newbury Street in Boston was used as the cover for the Newbury Street Gallery Guide. She has also been the Featured Artist and a gallery host for WGBY's annual Fine Art Auction. In 2008, Susan was asked by Congressman Richard E. Neal to create an ornament to represent Massachusetts Second District for the White House Christmas tree. She attended the Artists' Reception hosted by First Lady Laura Bush in the Blue Room of the White House with other artists from across the country who were also extended this honor. Susan currently teaches painting at the Museum of Fine Arts in Springfield, MA, as well as in her studio/gallery at the Thorndike Mill Art Center. She lives in beautiful western Massachusetts where there are always many inspiring locations to paint.
